When Jimmy gets a job as crime scene photographer for the LAPD, he enters a world of problems. Unable to cope with the horror he sees, he starts beautifying the corpses and gets involved with police drug deals, causing his domestic life to head for meltdown. From a neat concept, writer/director Sarkissian has fashioned a fast-moving and good-looking thriller that only occasionally overdoes its penchant for visual effects. But the film casts its net too wide. Unsure of its primary focus, it tries to deliver a relationship drama, (corrupt) cop precedural and style-led investigation into the nature of reality and appearances, not pursuing the latter rigorously enough really to lift the project.
