'The Express Bus is like a rainbow, a mad horse on the highway.' This docu-drama provides a glimpse of Dakar through a journey on one of the many buses which provide the city's only public transport. The Express is a microcosm of Senegalese life, from the market women ranting about their feckless husbands to the wealthy businessman unable to pay his fare. The passengers are frustrated and irritated by late buses, short-changing and even a flirtatious conductor, but such episodes are interspersed with impromptu song and strangers sharing food, cigarettes and boundless advice.
