A 16th century romp: young Roger Moore is the king's son, Lana Turner the French countess who falls for him - but he can't reciprocate since Dad wants him to marry Catherine de Medici. Despite a script from Christopher Isherwood and one of Miklos Rosza's ludicrously overblown scores, this is stodgy, soporific stuff. Turner's ridiculously miscast while Moore hadn't yet mastered the let's-raise-my-eyebrows style of acting he later used to show off to Miss Moneypenny.
