Eight Miles High

Some advice for pretty young women: Become a model, hang out with hippies, hook up with the Rolling Stones and then go globe-trotting with a mystic, mustachioed adventurer. That’s what you’ll get out of Achim Bornhak’s biopic of ’60s icon Uschi Obermaier (Avelon), Germany’s Bardot-esque cover girl who went from revolutionary sweetheart to Mick ’n’ Keef’s girlfriend and beyond. Only the early scenes of Kommune 1 members tripping over each other’s dogma resonate; otherwise, the movie says nothing about the period and everything about the power of the pout.
