Director Xavier Dolan, who was awarded the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival last year for Mommy, now stands in front of the camera as an elephant-obsessed mental patient. Directed by Charles Binamé, Elephant Song is adapted from an original stage play by the same name. Psychiatrist Dr. Green (Bruce Greenwood) begins speaking with patient Michael (Xavier Dolan), who was the last person to see his missing colleague. Complex mind-games between the psychiatrist and patient unfold with suspense. Dolan’s transition from director to actor is skillful, noted especially in the strong chemistry he shares with co-star Bruce Greenwood.
