Time Out says

An excellent low-key high fidelity record of a stage set (at the Rainbow Theatre, North London, in June 1977) welds musical restraint to wild exuberance. It catches all Marley's moments and moods - angry, jiving, teasing, wasted - a great antidote to the rock-machine calculations and reverence of The Last Waltz. Only the exclusion of the audience disappoints. The climactic high is irresistible: Marley in the spotlight, a chalk-blue bird hovering in the dark, reaching out to the howling crowd - 'Don't give up your rights...'
