Time Out says

Julio (Julián Villagrán) has his hands full: He’s just woken up, hungover, in the Madrid apartment of a gorgeous woman named Julia (Michelle Jenner), with little to no idea how he got there. When he tries to make a graceful exit, our lover-boy hero finds himself in an awkward situation involving the young woman’s d-bag boyfriend (Raúl Cimas) and a creepy next-door neighbor (Carlos Areces) who’s crushing hard on Julia. And to top it all off, aliens have apparently invaded Earth, their ginourmous flying saucers hovering over the now-deserted city. You’ve got to credit Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) for cleverly turning a hoary sci-fi conceit into the background for a rom-com, thus flipping two genres simultaneously onto their heads. The concept is stronger than the execution, however, and not even Vigalondo’s sly use of low-key F/X and the power of suggestion can keep this high-concept hybrid from eventually thudding back down to earth.
