Time Out says

How on earth was Samuel L Jackson talked into this excruciatingly amateurish thriller? He plays Foley, a conman going straight after a 25-year stretch for killing his partner. His victim’s son, Ethan (Luke Kirby), seems to be in a forgiving mood (for a man with the crazy eyes and cocaine jitters of a textbook movie psycho). He’s sniffing around trying to persuade Foley into one last grift; when Foley refuses, Ethan lays a honey trap involving a beautiful young junkie (Ruth Negga).

Here the script throws in a nightmarish, noirish twist calculated to shock you to the core. It won’t, and ‘Fury’ takes itself so seriously that it denies us even a few guilty-pleasure giggles. Surely there were sheepish faces all round in Jackson’s camp when they saw this?
