A vindictive cop (nastily well-played by Yulin) pursues a young black gang who've perpetrated rape and murder while low on Angel Dust and after they had been prevented from attending a Washington Go-Go gig. The music is culpable by association. Reporter/lush Garfunkel (limp) is duped into abetting the racist cop, until indignant blacks force Art's pink eyes open. The real star, of course, is the music of Trouble Funk, Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, and Redds & The Boys. Go-Go is Washington's form of superhard funk. It's heavy duty but clean and proud, and makes you dance like you always knew you could.
