Basketball is hardly the only attraction at an NBA game—though frankly, it remains the most entertaining option. Gotta Dance tracks the first senior citizens hip-hop dance team of the New Jersey Nets, from an open audition to rehearsals, dinners, shopping, television appearances and halftime performances. (Consider yourself warned: It gets shrill.) The 12 members of the NETSational Seniors—all women but one and all over 60—aren’t boring, yet this dull, repetitive documentary is content to recycle clichés about aging and dancing in lieu of saying anything specific. What’s worse than seeing geriatrics perform lame hip-hop routines? Watching younger Nets dancers boss them around.
