Time Out says

Anthony Quinn plays a lusty rogue with a heart of gold (what else?) who allows himself to be mistaken for a priest, and goes on to inspire some craven villagers to defend themselves against assorted un-Christian marauders (including Bronson as a nasty half-breed who has taken up with the Indians). The setting is nominally 18th century Mexico. It's a one-man Seven Samurai by any other name, competently enough directed and with a Morricone score, but strictly routine stuff.
