If you’ve ever visited Philadelphia, you’ve probably seen the work of Isaiah Zagar: his mirrored wall mosaics are everywhere. This doc about the man and his dysfunctional family—filmed by his son, Jeremiah—does benefit from a wealth of personal archival footage that would make Jonas Mekas envious. But given the blinkered view overall, the movie feels as if its creator is simply too close to his subject to cover all the angles; perhaps a director without blood bonds might have managed a less claustrophobic look at the clan.
