This Indian sci-fi comedy featuring aliens from another planet will alienate even die-hard Bollywood fans. Ageing Nasa scientist Agastya (Akshay Kumar) and his female ‘friend’ Divya (Sonakshi Sinha) visit a remote Indian village. The inhabitants of ‘Paglapur’ are all escapees from an asylum and behave accordingly. In particular, three locals enjoy dressing up at night as vegetarian aliens. When the Indian press and even the White House in Washington learn of this, they descend upon the hamlet. Has ET really set down on Earth? With the exception of a relatively short running time (by Hindi film standards), there is nothing to commend in this misguided mishmash of at least five Hollywood and Bollywood movies. The script is beyond inane. If you find the idea of an alien landing in India and boogying with pelvic thrusts to saucy songs funny, this is for you. Otherwise, it’s a joke of a film.
