An object lesson in finding hidden depths in everyday material. A young Hong Kong couple are on the verge of separating, although a trip to New York might save their marriage. Fong himself interviews them about their problems, then spins them off into fictional episodes (an abortion, an arrest, an interlude with a randy vet whose chat-up line is the mating habits of dogs), and finally whisks them off to the States, where they get stuck in a New Mexican snowdrift. Underlying it all are very candid worries about the future of Hong Kong after 1997.
