Killer Tattoo

Set in 2011 in a Thailand where the US dollar has become the official currency, Yuthlert's debut feature is a frenetic farce about a gaggle of bumbling hitmen all hired to kill the same chief of police. The mix of constant fast cutting, low humour, visual exaggeration and repetitive action betrays the ruinous influence of one time Hong Kong maverick Tsui Hark; only the stylised settings (chiefly, the resort hotel where most of the rivalries are played out) register as original ideas - not surprisingly for a director who trained as an interior designer. Less than meets the eye.
