Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

Are you a girl between the ages of 11 and 14? No? Then best avoid this assault of adorable. Based on a bestselling French comic book for tweenage girls, the effect of watching ‘Lou!’ is like being suffocated in a giant cardboard box full of Care Bears. Lola Lasseron is Lou, a 12-year-old who lives in a tiny arts-and-crafty flat overflowing with retro vintage finds. Lou wants to hook up her shy mum (Ludivine Sagnier) with the hippie next door and is herself hopelessly devoted to a kid with a One Direction haircut who lives across the street. The film is cartoony and jammed with subplots, but there is one funny joke when Lou bangs her head at a party at the hippie’s house. A guy pushes through to treat her: ‘Let me through, I’m an acupuncturist.
