Have Indian attitudes towards love remained constant throughout the ages? That is the central question posed in this glossy bollyromcom which draws inspiration from Taiwanese film, ‘Three Times’. London based couple, Jai (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera (Deepika Padukone), decide on an amicable break up. He moves to San Francisco; she returns to Delhi. Will they eventually realise the folly of their decision? The slick proceedings are generally restrained and unsentimental by Bollywood standards. The beautiful leads inject much charm into this urban fairy tale. However, the frequent nostalgic flashbacks designed to compare present day mores with those of the past is self-indulgent and ends up as a showcase for every touristy site of the Indian capital. Ultimately, the overall effect is underwhelming, undemanding and alienating.
