Night Journey

Sombre (possibly cautionary) tale of a man's retreat from the world. Director Ali and his writer scout locations for their next feature. They find the perfect set, an archaic ghost town abandoned in 1923, whereupon Ali, already feeling uncommunicative, is so struck by the forsaken buildings that he withdraws from the film project and moves in to the empty church with just a candle and his typewriter, to the bewilderment of everyone who knows him. The town's an arresting presence, but Ali's a real mystery.
