My Big Fat Greek Travelogue would be a more suitable title for this stock romantic comedy that might as well have been directed by the Hellenic tourist board. Tucked somewhere amid between scenes celebrating Grecian landscapes, music, food and dancing lies a whisper-thin plot about a high-tech archeologist (Modine) seeking a rare artifact—one that happens to be buried under a tavern owned by the pretty and very single Katerina (Scott). The inclusion of a Greek chorus and a poor man’s Alexis Zorba can’t salvage this career-versus-love dramedy from the Charybdis of mediocrity.
