Time Out says

While cavorting with imaginary friends at the ripe old age of nine often results in sufficient teasing, the tendency of juvie loner Kellyanne (Boyce) to hobnob with the invisible Pobby and Dingan invites the wrath of her entire town. Concerned that her pals are lost, Kellyanne sends her opal-miner dad (Colosimo) into a rival’s territory, and he winds up on trial for trespassing. Exasperatingly, the ordeal causes her to fall ill, forcing the family to further indulge her whimsy. Though some might be turned off by the film’s sugary message, we’re just thankful that the two figments never reveal themselves via computer animation. (Now playing; Village East). — Erin Clements
