Time Out says

The best documentaries can open up even the most arcane of subjects, but Rank never quite explains the appeal of PBR—no, not Dennis Hopper’s favorite beer, but Professional Bull Riders, Inc., which hosts 31 competitions a year, in a sport where career spans are brief, injury is certain, and glory is measured in the mere seconds that riders spend untossed and untrampled. The pride one subject takes in not wearing a helmet seems foolhardy, and while Stock Contractor of the Year is undoubtedly a swell award to win, what’s the nature of the competition, exactly? This slight doc doesn’t give viewers much cud to chew on. (Now playing; IFC Center.)—Ben Kenigsberg
