Snoop Dogg’s Bollywood debut is a mindless massala flick meant solely for fans of utter bolly-poppycock. Set in inexplicable locations like Australia, Egypt and the Punjab, it follows the fortunes of Indian Sikh lad Happy (Kumar) who inadvertently becomes the king of the Australian mafia. In the process, Happy manages to convert the killers to lovers as ‘only love can conquer hatred’, find a mother substitute (Kher) and marry the lip-glossed obsessed Sonia (Kaif). Shah’s inane script assaults us with its loud crass jokes, stereotypical portrayals and sentimental subplot. My white Indo-phile friend left the screening halfway in disbelief; the rest of the largely British Asian Punjabi audience at the sold out West End screening loved every minute of it.
