Somebody Killed Her Husband

Good comic acting might have pumped some life into this leaden comedy-thriller scripted by Reginald Rose, a tale of cutesy lovers secreting hubby's corpse in the fridge while tracking the killer who's framed them. But Jeff Bridges is given a nigh-impossible brief (he responds by breathing heavily to convey panic), while Farrah Fawcett-Majors, in her big screen debut, proves predictably inadequate to the task of impersonating Goldie Hawn (let alone Myrna Loy), and simply flashes her teeth at regular intervals. Charmless and dispiriting, the film incidentally elevates word (Bridges sidelines as a writer) over image (cinemas are places to go to annoy other patrons) to confirm its own redundancy.
