Time Out says

A humdrum ethnographic documentary, Stafford's film portrays the Garos, a Tibetan-Burmese community of rice farmers, as an affable if poor people. For the most part, they share pedestrian concerns that the director presents in monotonous fashion: They reminisce about how harvests used to be better, worry about making money and encourage one another to imbibe wine at family celebrations so that no one will be forced to drink alone. You see, the Garos are just like you and me. Man, we're boring.
