Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

Cryptic, claustrophobic and seasoned with a hint of Antichrist insanity, The Afterlight witnesses a broken couple implode against the striking, indifferent horizons of upstate farm country. We learn the source of their agony late into the free fall, but the symptoms are evident from scene one: Andrew (Kelly) and Claire (Schnee) are dislocated city-dwellers, doggedly avoiding each other on the eve of a solar eclipse. Darkness—literal and otherwise—looms. Alexei Kaleina and Craig Macneill’s proudly minimalist affair favors ambiguity over soap-operatics, evoking the inescapable heartache of a loss so great, it cannot be uttered.—S. James Snyder
