The Bitter Pill is a psychological thriller from director
Steven Soderbergh. Moving away from the more light hearted content of
Soderbergh’s last film ‘Magic Mike’, ‘The Bitter Pill’ follows a woman as she
turns to prescription medication after hearing of her husband’s imminent
release from prison. This is supposedly one of the last films Soderbergh is
taking on before he retires, and sees him collaborating for a third time with Catherine
Zeta-Jones, who plays a doctor.
The script comes from Scott Z. Burns who has a good track record with
thrillers, having previously written ‘Contagion’ and ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’.
