After watching this documentary, viewers may find it difficult to decide which is more impressive: the marketing brilliance of Steve Rocco, the founder of World Industries, or the otherworldly skateboarding ability of Rodney Mullen. Smart money is on the latter, although the film is ostensibly concerned with the rags-to-riches tale of Rocco, who made nearly as many enemies as he did dollars during the halcyon ’90s. The Man Who Souled the World covers the entire revolutionary decade, with plenty of insight into the genesis of the modern skateboarding industry and some great vintage skate footage.
