Time Out says

A two-and-a-half hour wallow, adapted by George Seaton from the Franz Werfel novel, with Jennifer Jones becoming a star as the peasant girl who had a vision of the Virgin Mary (that's Linda Darnell, uncredited) and thereby gave birth to the tourist industry at Lourdes. Some of the political and religious shenanigans momentarily conceal the mush at the heart of the picture, which begins with a glorious prologue that says if you believe it you're okay, and if not, shove off.
