The Stormriders

Film, Action and adventure

Time Out says

The team behind the Young and Dangerous series adapt another bestselling comic (the Fengyun storyline from Ma Wing-Shing's Tianxia) with the aid of some variable digital effects. Lord Conquer, advised by the Mud Buddha that he will achieve global dominion only with two disciples at his side, murders the fathers of Wind (Cheng) and Cloud (Kwok, with a fetching blue-tint hairdo) to bring the boys into his clan. After ten years of routine martial-arts-fiction exploits, our heroes learn the awful truth and turn against their master. Glad to be generic, the film is vastly indebted to Tsui Hark for everything from the swordsmithy opening (The Blade) to the protracted aerial swordfights and cod-mythic trappings (Zu).
