Robert Louis Stevenson in the mincer again, courtesy of Sir James Carreras' K-Tel strategy and the appropriately named Wolf Mankowitz at the typewriter. Jekyll is a whiskery and sinister scientist, and Hyde a debonair charmer wenching through those familiar London stews where Hammer's wardrobe department always kept their wenches' dumplings on the boil. This is Explicit City sex-wise, with a snake-dancing floor show. Oliver Reed appears in a bijou part. The mantis-like Christopher Lee displays his usual grip as Hyde's friend, despite inner discontent at keeping decomposing company. Mediocre, but all right for late-night viewing.
