A quiet, thirty-ish secretary attracts the eye of her wealthy boss and bemuses him, during their affair, with her apparent lack of ambition or materialist desire. Maybe the guitar-playing hippy who is her neighbour would make a more promising match? An odd film, this: though it initially seems to offer a facile black and white account of sexual and social issues, it's actually rendered rather more interesting by a visual and narrative style so formal it sometimes veers on the abstract. Cool, ironic and impressively attuned to nuance.
