Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

This slow-burn drama about the silences and secrets of British soldiers who fought in Iraq is hard work – and for all the wrong reasons. Newcomer Indea Barbe-Willson is Verity, who’s back home from boarding school after GCSEs. At the same time, a damaged ex soldier (Martin McGlade) arrives in town. He’s got history with Verity’s detective dad (James Doherty), who also served in Iraq. What that history is, we never find out.

The point seems to be that abuse wasn’t just a case of a few rotten apples; that good men did bad things in Iraq. But it fails to hit the target. Like a novel turned into an unconvincing film, this is a drama-free zone, characters drifting about, thoughts unspoken. Frustrating.
