Vic + Flo Saw a Bear

Two ageing lesbian ex-cons, an intrusive parole officer, and a mysterious woman from the past make up the central characters of this elusive Canadian revenge tale. Victoria and Florence are trying to rebuild their life in the Québécois countryside after a spell in jail, but their newfound domestic bliss soon gives way to cabin fever and mutual suspicion. The film won the Alfred Bauer Prize at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, where it impressed viewers with its moody woodland scenes, grotesque humour and complex characters. Judging from the trailer it will also look fantastic: if you’re a fan of forests, trees and log cabins seen through atmospheric blue-tinted filters, this’ll be the film for you.
