Wild Women of Wongo

Only the most dedicated follower of camp, the most ardent devotee of '50s hair lacquer and leopard-skin kitsch, will be kept genuinely amused throughout this High School Beach Party movie, thinly disguised as true tribal romance between the determined teenage virgins of Wongo (it's not their ethnic roots that are showing) and the dumb Caucasian hunks from the neighbouring Goona tribe - selected in preference to the neanderthal Wongo males. It's like a John Waters film without any disgusting bits, and as a conscious comedy one might argue that it lacks the innocent solemnity of the truly great bad movie. Needless to say, its prevailing ideology will prove deeply offensive to women, ugly people, and stuffed alligators everywhere.
