Time Out says

This accessible, engaging documentary follows the lives of nine youngish Chinese citizens over the course of a few years, ranging from a Western-educated entrepreneur struggling with the ethical challenges of doing business in his home country, to a young factory worker contemplating breaking off the engagement arranged by her rural family. Their stories illustrate the profound changes, for better and for worse, that China’s double-digit economic growth has instigated in every area of life. At its best, Young & Restless in China plays like a prosaic complement to the films of Jia Zhangke.
