Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars
A handsomely mounted and very entertaining Japanese thriller-melodrama set in 1957, as a young woman learns of the disappearance of her new husband and sets out to find answers. It's all richly Hitchcockian, steeped in sex, politics and obsession, exploring ideas of past misdeeds returning to haunt the present, and packed with gorgeous period style The mystery itself is a touch predictable, but rewarding in its psychological complexity. The standout performance comes from Miki Nakatani ('Memories of Matsuko'), who plays a wealthy wife with a dark past.
