Grant Road’s lanes have Mumbai’s dedicated vinyl-only listening sanctuary: Baroke – A Listening Bar. Owner Saurabh Krishna Shetty, director of the Krishna Palace Hotel that houses this vinyl haven, went on a solo trip to the United States and came back inspired. He wanted to open a vinyl-listening bar right in the city. He had the space already – which existed back then as a standard lounge bar. He got the new set-up done and, lo and behold! A spanking new vinyl bar for the city.
Baroke’s home to a collection of over 400 vinyl records spanning the 1960s all the way until the 1990s, but don’t be surprised if you spot a Harry Styles record between an RD Burman or Jimi Hendrix. They’ve also got a dedicated headphone space where you can dip out and listen to your favourite stuff in peace.

Their new cocktail menu’s pretty good – modern techniques all deployed by head mixologist Renzil Barrow, plus bar nibbles, small plates, large plates, and dessert. Look out for the Korean fried chicken, buttermilk fried chicken, and prawns in chilli sambal.
