What is it? Technically, this is a boutique international arts studio and alternative performance space in Versova (with a counterpart in Berlin), but it's also a space for fringe artists, fostering work across theatre, music, art, and experimental cinema
Why go? If you’re interested in cinematic work outside the mainstream, Harkat should top your list. Housed in a quaint bungalow in Aram Nagar II, Versova, it’s known for an intimate setting that seats only about 60 people. It’s also unique for its 8mm and 16mm project facilities, plus their calendar of carefully curated events, including their acclaimed 16mm Film Festival. Harkat also hosts screenings of short drama, documentary, and experimental films, often followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.
Time Out tip: It can be a little difficult to locate. They kindly start all shows 10 minutes late to accommodate for this, but it’s best (and politest) to arrive 15 minutes early.
Address: Bungalow No. 17, 9a-9b, JP Rd, Aram Nagar Part 2, Machlimar, Versova, Andheri Road, West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400061
