Bamyan Narges, in the trendy Glockenbach district of Munich, has a lot of tasty dishes to offer, but a particular standout is the narendj palau served with lamb (though it can also be served with chicken or made vegetarian). The meat is baked along with saffron rice delicately flavored with orange peel, pistachios and almonds. The restaurant is elegant but has a homey feel, and the servers are happy to explain the nuances of Afghani cuisine with enthusiasm.
Time Out tip: To end your meal, order a fresh date tea. It’s so spicy, refreshing and stomach-settling, you might even end up ordering a second.
