This class will walk you through the basics of an animal mask or avatar for your doll. Using photos, students will sculpt an anthropomorphic face mask for a doll from either ceramic stoneware or paperclay – students need to specify their medium at registration.

Class level
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. All skill levels are welcome.

What will students take away?
Each student should come away with at least one complete Anthropomorphic Mask.

Students who take the ceramic/stoneware version will also take away knowledge of working in high-fire clays, precautions for kiln-ready greenware, working in multiple sessions/on multiple projects.

Teacher provides:
Photo references, extra tools, paper towels, plastic containers/bags/wrap, ceramic stains.

Ceramic clays/stains, some tools, PDFs. A materials kit can be made available if enough students are interested.

Kit Fee
Teacher will collect payment during class.

Students must bring:
Students should bring their own doll that they would like to make a mask for, any favorite sculpting tools, your own choice of Paperclay, an array of water-based paints – ideally acrylic, and brushes. Plus potential preferred ribbons, string/jute, or elastic for tying mask to doll’s head.
