Nashville Jazz Workshop says

The Nashville Jazz Workshop is excited to announce the upcoming event, Jazz Night for Teens! On Friday, February 17 NJW welcomes teenaged musicians and their band directors to The Cave for two sets of music from the Chester Thompson Trio and hors d'oeuvres provided by Sargent’s Catering. Best of all, thanks to generous donors and sponsors, this event is completely FREE!

With three decades of performing and recording under his belt, Chester Thompson has influenced countless musicians in the fields of jazz, pop, rock, and gospel. Aside from a stint with Weather Report, Chester's resume also includes tours with Frank Zappa, Genesis, and Phil Collins.

Chester's recent trio CD Simpler Times was released in 2015 and went to #5 on the national Jazz Charts.

Sargent's Fine Catering is donating the food for this Jazz Night for Teens. Sargent's also caters the food for the NJW's Jazzmania fundraiser each year and is a sponsor for the event. For 31 years, Sargent’s Fine Catering has served the greater Nashville area as one of its premier caterers.

These free tickets are available directly to schools on a limited basis. To qualify, students and band directors should post videos and/or selfies on Facebook or Instagram explaining what they love about jazz. Be sure to tag all posts with #JN14s so we can find your posts! The best entries will win 8 tickets for their school, delivered directly to their band director!

All tickets will be awarded at noon on Friday, February 10
