Music City Roots says
Friends, this is an official MCR heads up, because we wanted to be sure you’re aware of the incredible lineup taking shape for our year-end show on Dec. 16. We were talking recently to John McEuen, founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a founding father of the Americana movement. He turns 70 years old this month, and we schemed and dreamed up a plan for him to celebrate with a bunch of his friends and musical influences on our stage.

It’s turning into a star-studded roots extravaganza. John Carter Cash will be on hand to perform and pick. Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas will join forces as they have for decades of epic progressive bluegrass. And speaking of bluegrass, we’ll hear the greatest female singer in the business Rhonda Vincent, plus legendary mandolinist Jesse McReynolds. The gentlemanly Roland White will be there, and MCR veteran Mike Bub will plunk the bass with his award-winning precision and magic touch.

And there’s more. Just this week we officially added Bernie Leadon to the bill. He played with McEuen in California way back before he started a band you might have heard of called The Eagles. John’s 50-year bandmate Jeff Hanna will be there, bringing the Dirt. And two former Dirt Band members will be on hand: Les Thompson played bass from ’66 to ’75 including the legendary Will The Circle Be Unbroken album. John Cable played in the mid 70s including a trip to the Soviet Union.

There’s more to tell, and I’ll have that in a formal pre show article. But we wanted to make sure you had a chance to book your night. It’s the night before Star Wars opens but it’ll be just as hot a ticket!
