Nashville Storytellers: Through Hell And Back Stories Of Addiction And Recovery says
Nashville Storytellers is a series of live events that explore the importance of personal narrative as a means for connection – both to our city and the people in it.

Our next Storytellers night will focus on stories of addiction and recovery. We want to share these stories, hellish and heartbreaking as some may be, with the intent of delivering hope and understanding. At every rock bottom, there is an opportunity for recovery.

This live storytelling night, to be held Aug. 15 at Blair School of Music, will blend the authentic discipline of storytelling with the truthful, community-building power at the heart of great journalism.

Our featured storytellers will include:

TRINA FRIERSON, a recovering crack addict who founded Mending Hearts recovery village for women

BETTY MASON, whose 19-year-old daughter died from a heroin overdose in May

DR. JESSICA YOUNG, an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University who runs Vanderbilt’s Drug Dependency Clinic for pregnant women

BRAD SCHMITT, a recovering addict for six years

DR. WILLIAM RICHIE, a Meharry Medical College psychiatrist who specializes in addiction.

Join us at the next Nashville Storytellers to understand the battle and the power of new beginnings.
