What kind of food are you missing most right now? Perhaps it’s fresh pasta from your local Italian, a casually ordered flat white on your way to work, an enormous sandwich from that indie bakery for a Friday lunchtime treat?

Or maybe it’s a cheeky McDonald’s breakfast. We’re not here to judge.

Since the fast food mega-chain closed its doors in multiple countries, McMuffins and those delightfully greasy hash browns have been off the menu. But no more.

Maccy D’s has just revealed the secret behind its super-popular breakfast meal, so that we can attempt to recreate it at home. Here’s everything you need to make a Sausage and Egg McMuffin (just skip the sausage if you’re veggie), plus hash browns, at home:

The trickiest part (apart from getting your hands on eggs in these strange times) is cracking the egg into a little metal ring in a frying pan for a part-poach, part-fry sesh.

The secret behind the hash brown? It’s just grated potato, egg, oil and seasoning, people.

Tomorrow’s lockdown breakfast is going to be the best yet.
