As week one of the competition draws to a close, here’s a look back at the most viral, heartwarming and impressive moments from Paris 2024 so far

Show-stopping demonstrations of sportspersonship, talent and dedication are, of course, the whole point of the Olympic Games. Simone Biles has vaulted her way to becoming the most decorated US gymnast in history, all the while championing her teammates and starting discussions about athletes’ mental health, and 22-year old French swimmer Léon Marchand did something even swimming legend Michael Phelps never did – win two gold medals within one pool session.
But we’ve been blessed with some flabbergasting, side-splitting and tear-jerking moments, too, from the final match of legendary tennis player Sir Andy Murray’s career to a wedding ring lost to the Seine, an Egyptian fencer who competed while seven months pregnant and, thanks to Tom Daley, plenty of wholesome knitting content. So, here is a roundup of all the most iconic moments from the Paris 2024 Olympics… so far.

Obsessed with this guy on the US men's gymnastics team who's only job is pommel horse, so he just sits there until he's activated like a sleeper agent, whips off his glasses like Clark Kent and does a pommel horse routine that helps deliver the team its first medal in 16 years. pic.twitter.com/0D1ZqJjFa1
