Know you want to go away, but not sure what kind of trip you fancy? Not much of a planner, but still want a pretty packed schedule? Well, one Norwegian tour firm may have just come up with a solution to both those problems. Up Norway has started offering ‘mystery trips’ where travellers aren’t given any details about where they’re going – and only find out their itinerary when they arrive.

The company contacts guests before their holiday with an online questionnaire, then gets planning a tailored tour based on their interests. Past trips have included hiking, whale watching, staying in treehouses in Finnskogen Forest and cruises through the Hjørundfjord – all of which sound pretty amazing. And the range of accommodation available sounds exciting too: log cabins, yurts and renovated lighthouses have all been included in previous packages.

Up Norway isn’t the only travel firms offering trips to surprise locations, of course. Wowcher regularly runs vacation raffles, with prizes including mystery holidays to destinations like Bali, Thailand and Chicago. And airline Qantas also launched flights to secret destinations across Australia last year.

Unsurprisingly, the tailored packages from Up Norway are more on the expensive side of things. The tours starts at £1,760 ($2,290) for a five-night experience, which does admittedly include all accommodation, activities and access to a 24-hour chat service, just in case you’re confused about what the hell is going on.

But in any case, you can hardly go wrong with beautiful, beautiful Norway. So, if you are fed up of holiday planning and just want to let someone else do it all for you? You can find out more about Up Norway’s range of packages here
