It’s official! Hungary’s new culinary and cultural hub, Time Out Market Budapest, will open on September 20. The doors of the renovated Corvin Palace on Blaha Lujza tér swing open at 11.30am, and visitors will be welcomed every day until 11.30pm.

Time Out Markets bring the best of the city together under one roof: a curated mix of the best chefs and restaurateurs, drinks and cultural experiences. Time Out Market Budapest will be the first to open in Central & Eastern Europe and will feature 11 culinary concepts from both award-winning and rising talents, three bars, five event spaces and some 540 seats.

Offering a variety of cuisines and flavours, it will be a celebration of local talent – a new destination where guests will get a real taste of the city and beyond – while coming together with family and friends, enjoying local and global delights at communal tables, surrounded by top chefs in action.

We’ve already revealed the first eight restaurants – read about those here and here – and now the final four names to complete the curated line-up have just been revealed.

M’EAT by Jenő Rácz

The new antipasti and grill concept by Michelin-star chef Jenő Rácz will bring a decidedly Mediterranean atmosphere to the Corvin Palace. M’EAT is all about light, social dining: premium Hungarian hams, salamis and cheeses, freshly sliced in front of you; or homemade pâté or foie gras with brioche, best enjoyed over relaxed conversation.

LIRA by Essência

The Michelin-starred team at Essência promises accessible fine dining. LIRA, owned by chef Tiago Sabarigo and sous chef Miguel Diniz, is both elegant and straightforward. Its menu was created especially for Time Out Market and features beefsteak tartare with oyster emulsion, homemade tagliatelle with black mussels and smoked seaweed butter, and almond cake with gorgonzola ice cream. The aim is to show that top gastronomy can also be an everyday experience.

Hai Nam Pho

One of the most famous Vietnamese restaurants in Budapest returns to where it all began 20 years ago in the 8th district. Second-generation Vietnamese-Hungarian siblings Vo Son Hai and Nam bring authentic pho soup, homemade noodles and nostalgic family flavours, spiced up with their own personal stories.

Absolut Bar

One of the world’s most renowned premium vodka brands will be launching an exclusive cocktail bar at Time Out Market Budapest. From the classic Cosmopolitan and Espresso Martini to unique creations, everything here will reflect their Born to Mix philosophy: a meeting of cultures and flavours in one glass.

This completes the selection of culinary talents at Time Out Market Budapest. The newly announced vendors join names such as Anyukám Mondta, Pingrumba, 101 Bistro, Szaletly, Canteen by Pesti István, Casa Christa, Bigfish, Tuning Burger, Dreher Tanksör and Wines of Hungary Bar.

‘The food scene in Budapest and across Hungary has really evolved in the last few years and we have created this amazing place to present the rich, diverse culinary and cultural vibrancy, and the very best Hungarian creators,’ says Viktor Balogh, owner of Time Out Market Budapest. ‘We wanted to make sure that we feature the city’s well-known chefs and award-winning restaurateurs, while also giving revered local gems and up-and-coming talents the opportunity to showcase their expertise.’

Alongside food and drink, there’ll be jazz performances, piano evenings, DJ sets and family Sundays, plus a major concert each month. Watch this space.
