Cappadocia is already one of Türkiye’s most popular destinations for tourism, and soon enough the region will welcome almost triple the amount of visitors thanks to major upgrades being done to its airport.

Works began on Kayseri Airport back in November 2020, and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has just announced that the brand new terminal building is in its final stages.

It’s quite a big deal for the region, as not only does this expansion include better parking facilities and more comfortable waiting areas, but it’s also upped the aircraft-parking spaces from nine to 16 spots.

It’s thought this project will vastly increase annual passenger capacity from 2.5 million to 6 million across the region, according to the Minister’s statement. That’s quite the uptake.

Cappadocia is most famous for its striking landscape which has been formed by the erosion of soft volcanic rock into towers and cones. Hot air balloon rides are an incredibly popular way to take in the amazing views.

There’s no official opening date for the new terminal just yet, but it looks to be pretty soon!
