A lot of us haven’t gone away for quite a while now. Whether it’s because of specific travel restrictions or just, y’know, everything, many of us have had to make do with staying home and exploring our own neighbourhoods. Which has been good, up to a point. But as 2022 rolls around, we reckon more people will be thinking about that getaway of a lifetime – and that might well mean going abroad.

So that’s why we’re pretty excited about this new deal from holiday company Brendan Vacations, which specialises in trips to Ireland. If you book on to one of its epic tours of the Emerald Isle, you can bag a stay in one of its incredible historical properties – like the 300-acre Lough Rynn Castle estate, pictured above – for the night for free. That’s right: you pay absolute nothing.

The deals include the ‘Sparkling Gems’ railway tour and an eight-day journey along the coastal Atlantic Way (which takes in the Aran Islands and Connemara National Park). Admittedly, they aren’t exactly cheap – you’re talking a few thousand euros a pop, including standard accommodation – but with the added bonus of a free night in a glamorous place like Ard Na Sidhe Country House or Mustard Seed Echo Lodge, that may well start to sound like pretty good value.

Tempted to book for 2022? The option to upgrade to luxury accommodation runs until January 14 – and you can find out more here.

Looking for more travel inspo for next year? These are the 22 best new things to do in the world in 2022 according to us.
