Big fan of Netflix’s hit series The Crown? Want to try your hand at being plummy royal? Well, here’s your chance. The show’s reportedly on the hunt for someone to play the role of Kate Middleton in its sixth and final season. Which means that you – yes, you – could well be the next star of the hit series.

The Crown, a TV dramatisation of the lives of the British royal family, has almost reached the present day. The final season is rumoured to cover the late 1990s and early 2000s, meaning that it’ll include the romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton. To any Crown/royal fanatic, that’s no doubt a thrilling prospect. To the rest of us? Well, maybe not so much.

The latest rumours follow a casting call last month which was looking for two actors to play the Princes William and Harry. The exact details for the Kate Middleton casting call haven’t been confirmed yet, though it’s believed that her role will be very, very minor. A ‘TV insider’ told The Sun: ‘she’s not necessarily a crucial part of the storyline, Kate’s presence is essentially a bonus, they’ll only cast someone if they can find the right candidate.’

When we say that pretty much anyone could play Kate Middleton, we are, of course, talking within reason. In other words, you probably have to look a bit like her as a teenager and be an okay actor. Probably narrows the field a bit, eh?

So, what are you waiting for? Get practising that plummy British accent! The Crown’s final series is scheduled to begin shooting in August 2022.
